Paul Smith
5 August 2015
Below, letter by Marie Dénarnaud to M. Pechou, one of her creditors, demonstrating she was living in abject poverty following the death of Bérenger Saunière
Renne [sic] -le-Château, 11 January 1929
Dear Monsieur Pechou,
I have received your letter and your invoices but with the best will in the world I would not be able to pay them in this month of January. I will do everything I can to pay you as soon as possible. Please, I beg you, allow me some extra time, which will be short I hope. I will pay you the amount requested and even the interest as I had already told you I would.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Yours etc.,
Marie Denarnaud.
