It was in a 1965 Priory of Sion Document ascribed to Madeleine Blancasall that the Large Parchment and its “deciphered” text made its first appearance.

Pierre Plantard and Philippe de Chérisey decided to introduce their own parchments into the fake mystery of Rennes-le-Château because of the popularity of the Dead Sea Scrolls literature of the 1960s – the correspondence between them serves as evidence of this.

Curiously, the first seven scrolls discovered at Qumran were housed in the Shrine of the Book Complex in 1965, a wing of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.

The opening ceremony of the Shrine of the Book Complex was on 20 April, 1965. The document ascribed to Madeleine Blancasall – containing the first references to the “parchments” – was deposited in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France on 26 August, 1965.
