Pierre Duchat's Priory of Sion
(Another Example of the 1982 Time-Warp)

1 June 2024

The compulsion to make time stand still in 1982 does not just apply to the UK.

Pierre Duchat is another author who ignores Pierre Plantard's 1982 Radio Interview where he rejected the Jesus Bloodline Theory, and all the subsequent Plantard rejections of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail found in the 1989-1990 issues of Vaincre. Plantard's episode relating to Judge Thierry Jean-Pierre and Roger-Patrice Pelat would also be missing. This book seems to be nothing more than a warmed-up version of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. Another warning: The book is extremely expensive!

Nothing New For Those Interested
On the one hand, nothing is mentioned at all about the author himself in the book, who he is and how he got there – on the other hand, all the information in the book is compiled from other books that are also mentioned again and again. Anyone could have written this book. There are no facts that you haven't already read somewhere and, above all, it is mentioned that these facts are doubted anyway – you could have saved yourself the book – plus the price for such a paperback with hardly any text is totally overpriced. Stay away from it!

Esoteric Nonsense
This is a book for readers who believe everything in print. As exciting as the background story of the alleged Prieuré de Sion, as one could read in “The Holy Grail and His Heirs” by Lincoln/Baigent/Leigh, sounds: the fact remains that the imposter Pierre Plantard founded the Prieuré in the 1950s by registering it as a club and then adding a story that goes far into the past.

The author of this book now acts as if the real Priory existed and still exists independently of Plantard's frauds. Without any sources, he blithely rambles on. Unfortunately, this doesn't even read excitingly, just like a solidly written school essay. A few years ago, such nonsense was still labelled as the sub-genre “alternative reality” by halfway reputable publishers. There is none of that in this book. It is pure stupidity for which the reader will have to pay dearly. If only it were done well...

If you want to read an exciting story about this fascinating (nevertheless fictional) secret society, you'd better pick up the classic by Lincoln/Baigent/Leigh or Dan Brown's great thriller “Sacrileg” (German Title for “The Da Vinci Code”).
